Dear Judie: I've been substitute for health (88) of my aunt for several years. I am available for emergency needs and visits for routine doctor as to cancel two trips over the last few years, so it could act in a responsible manner for their health care needs. I would like to take this opportunity to a two week trip that took me out of the country. There is no family member to assume. Can I temporarily transfer powers of alternate health to the Department of nursing at the Centre of assisted living where you live? There is a body which has that kind of service? Where can I find what can and cannot do?
: Jenny, Vero Beach
Dear Jenny: It is clear that you want to do the right thing for the aunt; She is lucky to have you as their health care. The answer depends on whether his powers of subrogation of health care are delegated and whether the Fund will accept a delegated agent to make decisions during his absence. If it isn't, we see two options:
Retain a lawyer of more law to revise the document to appoint a substitute in the event that it is not available and to find a professional to be the alternative.
Yourself by making available by phone or email may be the simplest solution.
OPEN POP MAIL I MEDICO
Dear Judie: I live in Detroit and I am visiting Pop, 84, for the first time since Christmas. It used to be a neatnik and now the House is filled with piles of paper and stacks of mail unopened. When I tried to pick up the mail and open it, Pop, said, "I have looked at them, are all unwanted." "I'm going to throw them when you leave." do you think that you will do?
-Pete, Stuart
Dear pete: No, he does not. Open the mail. These letters may contain notices of cancellation of insurance policies for unpaid premiums, notices of final cutting power and telephone or a host of other nasty surprises. Impaired ability to pop to deal with e-mail and other documents suggests that it may have more problems that require medical attention ASAP. It is unlikely that reliable State a report to your doctor or comply with the recommendations of your physician, so play safe and accompany you to the appointment.
